This event is a great opportunity for Iowa River advocates to learn more about cover crops and how they benefit the watershed:
COVER CROPS FIELD DAY AT ISU EXTENSION OFFICE, IN JOHNSON COUNTY, DECEMBER 4TH, 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM
The Johnson County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) is hosting a Cover Crop “Cocktail” workshop. The United States Department of Agriculture, the English River Watershed, Muscatine SWCD, Iowa SWCD, and a Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education grant are sponsoring and providing support for the event. The workshop is scheduled for December 4th, 2014 from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm at the ISU Extension Office located at 3109 Old Hwy 218 S., Iowa City, IA 52240. The workshop will discuss many topics, including how cover crop mixes can improve soil health, reduce erosion, break-up compaction, increase organic matter content, improve water quality, and much more!
