Big Cats & Big Fish in the Iowa River Watershed

The Iowa River Friends’ quarterly forum was well-attended on Saturday, March 22nd. Over 40 people participated in the event to learn more about mountain lions and bobcats from Vince Evelsizer, DNR Furbearer Biologist, and Iowa River’s current and historic fish species from John Olson of DNR’s Watershed Monitoring and Assessment section.

The event was written up by Orlan Love of the Cedar Rapids Gazette. You can read his piece here: http://thegazette.com/2014/03/24/iowa-river-fish-species-holding-their-own/

There was also some TV coverage of the event on Channel 2, which can be seen here: http://www.cbs2iowa.com/news/features/top-stories/stories/johnson-county-big-cats-fish-25664.shtml

Many thanks to our speakers for a very interesting and informative morning!

The next Iowa River Friends educational forum will take place in conjunction with the Clear Creek Watershed Board on May 6 at the Coralville Public Library. More information is available here: Clear Creek Event Flyer
