Frozen ground leads to high river levels – Press Citizen, 3/11/13

An interesting article in the Iowa City Press Citizen about how the 2.5″ of rain seen in the Iowa City area affected different parts of the Iowa River basin.

If you haven’t already, check out the Iowa Flood Center’s Iowa Flood Information System website: http://ifis.iowafloodcenter.org/ifis/en/. Plug in the name of your community, and if maps are available for that location, you can view the upstream watershed, associated USGS stream gage or IFC bridge sensor data,  and flood warnings for the drainage area. It’s a great tool for visualizing your local watershed!
